Dynamic transitions in the uterine endometrium support pregnancy and postpartum repair. Faulty coordination between endometrial neutrophils and neural crosstalk may contribute to recurrent miscarriage or poor healing after caesarean section, affecting fertility in the long term.

This project initially aimed to pinpoint potential dysregulations in endometrial neutrophil abundance and functional profiles in unique samples from women with recurrent miscarriage and assess the uterine milieu’s capacity to drive these changes using refined ex vivo methods (UR). Secondly, we aim to investigate uterine innervation and immune crosstalk in postpartum healing by implementing a C-section model in reporter mice with fluorescent neurons, followed by bioinformatic integration of data with single-cell spatial immune profiling (UCSD). Together, these data will fill critical knowledge gaps and advance women's fertility care.
