A new growth technique allowing growing ring-shaped quantum dots has recently been invented at University of California Santa Barbara in the group of Prof. Pierre Petroff. Such structures show new voltage tuneable optical properties that were dis-covered at Ludwig-Maximilians University (Munich) in the group of Prof. Karrai. Such properties can be potentially used in laser technology and in quantum optics. The growth of such structure remains not quite understood and still difficult to achieve. We would like to team our efforts in order to get a quick and reliable production and characterisation of ring-shaped semiconductor quantum dots.
