Global computation is a new emerging computational paradigm in which computation is distributed over the net and highly dynamic, with the network itself changing continuously. The aim of the project is to develop models and techniques which allow one to design and analyze mobile distributed systems in a dynamically changing environment. The approach is based on rewriting logic and multi-agent techniques which have been proved to be very useful in studying object-oriented systems and active networks. We will develop an abstract operational programming model for representing and studying mobile, autonomous, distributed and concurrent agents in a global dynamic environment. To study the behavior of global computation systems we will develop notions of equivalence, abstraction and refinement. The adequacy and applicability of the model will be demonstrated using cases studies from the areas of E-Commerce and dynamic traffic control. The model will be implemented in Meseguer´s Maude system.
